New York State Inspections
Park Automotive continues to provide annual inspections as required by New York State. All state inspections are now processed through a dedicated computer that all licensed inspection stations are required to use. The results of all inspections are transmitted to the Department of Transportation within 24 hours. The state is now able to track when an inspection was performed, the facility and the inspector that performed the inspection, and can determine which inspection sticker belongs on your vehicle.

The safety items that must be inspected on motor vehicles are as follows:
Service brake system
Parking brake
Tires
Steering
Suspension
Front End
Chassis
Lighting and reflectors
Windshield and glass
Mirrors
Wipers
Horn
Seat belts
Fuel leaks
The emission items that must be inspected on non-exempt vehicles are as follows:
Positive Crankcase Ventilation
Catalytic Converter
Fuel Inlet Restrictor
Exhaust Gas Recirculator Valve
Thermostatic Air Cleaner
Air Injection System
Evaporative Emission Control
Gas Cap
All non-exempt 1996 model year and newer vehicles under 8501 pounds MGW must also have the On-Board Diagnostic System (OBDII) checked. This includes a visual check of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp on your vehicle followed by a procedure where the inspection computer communicates with your vehicle's on-board computer(s). This process verifies that the vehicle identification number stored in the on-board computer matches your registration, it checks for malfunctions stored as trouble codes, and it checks to see that the proper number of diagnostic monitors are ready. Your vehicle will not pass this test if your computer was reset with a tool or by disconnecting the battery without sufficient drive time for the on-board computer to properly check the required systems. The inspection computer may allow you a one time 10 day extension to drive your vehicle if the diagnostic monitors are not ready and all other systems pass.
Motor vehicles 2 years old and newer only require a safety only inspection.
Trailers require a safety only inspection.
Park Automotive has the equipment and the expert technicians to resolve both safety and emission problems that can prevent your vehicle from passing its annual inspection.

Many of our customers have great success when this is performed 6 months after the required New York State Inspection
Pre-Purchase Inspections
Purchasing a used vehicle should involve more than just you and a seller. It is always best to have a reputable third party inspect the vehicle being considered for purchase. Pre-Purchase inspections are designed to uncover visible mechanical problems with vehicles being sold by private individuals as well as dealerships. This type of inspection should be scheduled in advance and approved by the seller. It is best not to purchase a vehicle from a seller who is unwilling to have the shop of your choice check the vehicle being considered. Although no visual inspection can uncover every problem, our experienced technicians can locate problem areas that may be easily overlooked. Better yet - this service is provided at no cost to our regular customers.
